Republic o Karelie
The Republic o Karelie (Roushie: Респу́блика Каре́лия, Respublika Kareliya; Template:Lang-krl; Finnish: Karjalan tasavalta; Template:Lang-vep) is a federal subject o Roushie.

Historically, Karelie wis a region tae the northwast o Roushie, east o present-day Finland, controlled bi the Novgorod Republic. Frae the 13t century an onwards, various pairts wur conquered bi Swaden, an incorporatit intae Swadish Karelie till they wur lost tae Roushie bi the Treaty o Nystad in 1721.
In 1920, the province became the Karelian Labour Сommune. In 1923, the province became the Karelian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (Karelian ASSR). Frae 1940 it wis made intae the Karelo-Finnish SSR, incorporatin the Finnish Democratic Republic which nominally operatit in those pairts o Finnish Karelie that wur occupied bi the Soviet Union durin the Winter War. Annexed territories wur incorporatit intae Karelo-Finnish SSR, but efter the Continuation War the Karelian Isthmus wis incorporatit intae the Leningrad Oblast. Its status wis chynged back tae an ASSR in 1956. Durin the Continuation War in 1941 Finland occupied lairge pairts o the aurie but wis forced tae athdraw in 1944. Though Finland is no currently pursuin ony measures tae reclaim Karelian lands cedit tae Roushie, the "Karelian Question" is still a topic present in Finnish politics.
The autonomous Republic o Karelie in its present form wis formed on November 13, 1991.
