Its name reflects Argentinae's claims o sovereignty ower the Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas in Spaingie). It wis creatit on 20 October 1994 bi Provincial Law #11551, takkin some o the territory o umwhile General Sarmiento Partido.
Los Polvorines is its caipital, foondit on the Ferrocarril General Manuel Belgrano railwey, alang wi the neebourin toun o Del Viso. The union o the land aroond these twa train stations oreeginatit the destrict.
Bi Decree #4520, the federal govrenment on 17 Dizember 1908, creatit the train stop Los Polvorines, which name came frae the Sargento Cabral munitions depot (polvorín in Spaingie), established bi the Argentine Airmy nearbi.
