Akinkunmi quickly prepared his entry an sent it tae Lagos whaur it wis eventually picked in 1958 as the best an the banner wis uised tae celebrate an independent Nigerie on October 1, 1960; when the Union Banner (Banner o the Unitit Kinrick o Great Breetain an Northren Ireland) wis lowered for the Nigerian banner tae tak its place on the flagpole.
