Ujar Rayon (Ucar Rayonu[1]) is a rayon (admeenistrative destrict) o Azerbaijan, situatit tae the sooth o Goychay, in the centre o the kintra. This region contains the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline tae the sooth o the Shirvan plain. Thare are 32 veelages an 1 ceety in Ucar. The lairgest commonties are Qazyan, Müsüslü an Qarabörk.

The name Ucar derives frae the Turkic wird "Ucqar" meanin "remote", as Ucar wis remote frae the Shirvanshah caipital at Baku, an on the frontier o the Shirvan state.[3]

The Ujar Rayon wis creatit on 24 Januar 1939 as an independent admeenistrative unit frae pairt o Goychay Rayon.[4]
