On the scroll is written the name o the kintra in Arabic: الجمهورية اليمنية or Al-Jumhuriyyah Al-Yamaniyah ("The Yemeni Republic"). The chest o the eagle contains a shield that depicts a coffee plant an the Marib Dam, that are belaw fower blue an three wavy stripes. The flagstaffs on the richt an left o the eagle hauld the Banner o Yemen.

The North haed an emblem mair seemilar tae the present day ane, an its shield haes similarities wi the shield o the umwhile Mutawakkilite Kinrick o Yemen. The Sooth haed an emblem wi the pan-Arab "Eagle o Saladin" (seemilar tae the coats o airms o Egyp, Iraq, an Sirie).
