Lanuvio is a comune (municipality) in the Province o Roum in the Italian region Latium, locatit aboot 30 km sootheast o Roum, on the Alban Hills.
Lanuvio borders the follaein municipalities: Aprilia, Ariccia, Genzano di Roma, Velletri.

In auncient times Lanuvium wis a important toun in the nearbi o Roum. The emperors Antoninus Pius, an Commodus wur born here, thegither wi the ' condottiero' Marcantonio Colonna. It decayed efter the reign o Theodosius I (late 4t century AD), an wis maistly abandoned due tae the shuttin doun o its Pagan sanctuars.
It is mentioned again in the 11t century, when it wis a seat o a Benedictine monastery. In the early 15t century it wis acquired bi the Colonna faimily, tae whom it belaangit till 1564.
On 17 Februar 1944, durin Warld War II, it wis bombed bi sea an air bi the Allies, an amaist entirely destroyed.
