History
[eedit | eedit soorce]The ceety wis mentioned first in 998 AD, an wis later a fief o the Colonna faimily. In 1482 it wis besieged bi Pape Sixtus IV an obligit tae surrender. It is especially kent for the Treaty o Cave, signed on 12 September 1557 bi plenipotentiaries o Pape Paul IV an Fernando Álvarez de Toledo, the Spaingie viceroy o Naples.
