Ayn al-Shiqaq (Arabic: عين شقاق, spelt Ain al-Shiqaq an aw) is a toun in northwastren Sirie, admeenistratively pairt o the Jableh Destrict in the Latakia Govrenorate, locatit sooth o Latakia. Nearbi localities include Zama tae the sootheast, al-Qassabin tae the sooth, Siyano tae the soothwast, Jableh tae the wast, Qardaha tae the northeast, al-Budi an Harf al-Musaytirah tae the east. Accordin tae the Sirie Central Bureau o Statistics, Ayn al-Shiqaq haed a population o 4,125 in the 2004 census. It is the admeenistrative centre o the Ayn al-Shiqaq nahiyah ("subdestrict") which contains 15 localities wi a total population o 16,031 in 2004.[1] The inhabitants are predominantly Alawites. Ayn al-Shiqaq is the birthplace o notit Sirie poet Nadim Muhammad (1907-1994).[2]
