The La Paz Depairtment o Bolivie comprises 133,985 square kilometre (51,732 sq mi) wi a 2001 census population o 2,350,466 indwallers. It is situatit at Bolivie's wastren mairch, skarin Lake Titicaca wi Peru. It conteens the michty Cordillera Real that reaches altitudes o 6.6 kilometer (4.1 mi). Northeast o the Cordillera Real is the Yungas, the steep eastren slopes o the Andes that maks the transition tae the Amazon basin.
