Its principal touns are - Aberdare, Llantrisant wi Talbot Green an Pontypridd, wi ither key settlements/touns being - Ferndale, Hirwaun, Llanharan, Mountain Ash, Porth, Tonypandy, Tonyrefail an Treorchy. Rhondda Cynon Taf is the seicont-maist populous local authority aurie in Wales.

The maist populous toun in Rhondda Cynon Taf is Aberdare (Welsh: Aberdâr) wi a population o 31,705 (2001 Census), follaeed bi Pontypridd with 29,781.
