Guárico (Spaingie: Estado Guárico, IPA: [esˈtaðo ˈɣwaɾiko]) is ane o the 23 states o Venezuela. The state caipital is San Juan de Los Morros. Guárico State covers a total surface aurie o 64 986 km² an, in 2007, haed an estimatit population of 745,100. It is named for the Guárico River.

Durin Colonial Venezuela, the territory o Guárico State wis pairt o the Province o Venezuela. Guárico Province wis creatit as a Province o Venezuela in 1848 bi decree o Preses José Tadeo Monagas, an follaein the Federal War, Guárico State wis creatit as a State o Venezuela in 1864. In the late nineteent century (frae 1881) it wis involvit in a series o re-arrangements o Venezuelan states, eventually re-emergin as an unthirlt state in 1899. Its first caipital wis Calabozo (till October 1874), its seicont Ortiz (till 1934), when the caipital wis muivit tae San Juan de los Morros.[3]
