Fun and Fancy Free is a 1947 American animatit muisical fantasy package film produced bi Walt Disney an released on September 27, 1947 bi RKO Radio Pictures. It is the ninth Disney animatit featur film an the fowert o the package films the studio produced in the 1940s in order tae save money durin Warld War II. The Disney package films o the late 1940s helped finance Cinderella (1950), an subsequent ithers, sic as Alice in Wonderland (1951), an Peter Pan (1953).
The film is a compilation o twa stories, the first o which, Bongo, is hosted bi Jiminy Cricket an narrated bi Dinah Shore. Based on the tale Little Bear Bongo bi Sinclair Lewis, Bongo tells the story o a circus bear cub named Bongo wha longs for freedom frae captivity. Bongo escapes the circus an eventually forms a romantic relationship wi a female bear cub named Lulubelle in the wild, realizin that he must prove himsel in order tae earn Lulubelle as his mate. The second story, Mickey and the Beanstalk, is hosted bi Edgar Bergen an is a retellin o Jack and the Beanstalk featurin Mickey, Donald, an Goofy as three peasants wha discover the temperamental Willie the Giant's castle in the sky throu the uise o some magic beans. Thay must battle the greedy but lovable giant in order tae restore peace tae thair valley. Though the film is primarily animatit, it an aw uses live-action segments tae jyn its twa stories thegither. Mickey and the Beanstalk wis the last time Walt Disney voiced Mickey Mouse, acause he wis too busy on ither projects tae continue voicin the famous chairacter. Disney replaced himsel wi sound effects airtist Jimmy MacDonald.
