Lille (French pronunciation: [lil] (
listen); Dutch: Rijsel) is a ceety in northren Fraunce (French Flanders). It is the principal ceety o the Lille Métropole, the fowert-lairgest metropolitan aurie in the kintra ahint those o Paris, Lyon an Marseille. Lille is situatit on the Deûle River, near Fraunce's border wi Belgium. It is the caipital o the Nord-Pas de Calais region an the prefectur o the Nord depairtment.
