The Municipality o Hrastnik (Slovene: Občina Hrastnik) is a municipality in central Slovenie. The seat o the municipality is the toun o Hrastnik. Tradeetionally the aurie wis pairt o the Styrie region. The entire municipality is nou includit in the Central Sava Statistical Region. Locatit in the valley o a minor left bank tributar o the Sava River, the aurie is kent for its rich deposits o coal. Coal minin began in the aurie in 1804. Surroondin peaks include Munt Kum (1220 m), Munt Mrzlica (1122 m), an Kopitnik Hill (910 m). The aurie aroond Kopitnik is protectit as a nature reserve. Species such as the capercaillie an chamois run wild in the surroondin forests.[2]
