Amazonas (Portuguese pronunciation: [amaˈzõnɐs][footnote 1]) is a state o Brazil, locatit in the northwastren corner o the kintra. It is the lairgest Brazilian state bi aurie an the 9t lairgest kintra subdiveesion in the warld.
Neebourin states are (frae the north clockwise) Roraima, Pará, Mato Grosso, Rondônia, an Acre. It borders Peru, Colombie an Venezuela an aw. This includes the depairtment Amazonas in Colombie, as well as the Amazonas, Venezuela, an the Loreto Region in Peru.
Amazonas is namit efter the Amazon River, an hame tae the heichest muntain in Brazil, Pico da Neblina, a tepui which staunds at 2,994 metre (9,823 ft) abuin sea level.
