José María Linares is a province in the eastren pairts o the Bolivie depairtment o Potosí. Its caipital is Puna.
Location
[eedit | eedit soorce]José María Linares province is ane o saxteen provinces in the Potosí Depairtment. It is locatit atween 19° 30' and 20° 16' Sooth an atween 64° 43' an 65° 53' Wast. It borders Cornelio Saavedra Province in the north, Tomás Frías Province in the northwast, Antonio Quijarro Province in the wast, Nor Chichas Province in the sooth, an Chuquisaca Depairtment in the east. The province extends ower 120 km frae east tae wast an 85 km frae north tae sooth.

Till 15 August 2006, when Ckochas Municipality wis creatit,[1] its three cantons, Turuchipa, Duraznos an Esquiri, belangit tae the Puna Municipality.
Population
[eedit | eedit soorce]The main leid o the province is Quechua, spoken bi 80 %, while 44 % o the population speak Spaingie. The population dropped frae 52,535 inhabitants (1992 census) tae 50,899 (2001 census), a decrease o 2.1 %.
90 % o the population hae nae access tae electricity, 89 % hae nae sanitar facilities. 69 % o the population are employed in agricultur, 0.5 % in minin, 11 % in industrie, 20 % in general services. 88 % o the population are Catholics, 10 % Protestants.
The fowk are predominantly indigenous ceetizens o Quechua strynd.[2]
