Istanbul Province (Turkis: İstanbul ili ‎) is a province locatit in north-wast Turkey. It haes an aurie o 5,196 km² an a population o 13,255,685. The population wis 10,018,735 in 2000. It is surroondit bi the provinces o Tekirdağ tae the wast, Kocaeli tae the east, the Black Sea tae the northren pairt an the Sea o Marmara tae the south. The Bosphorus (Boğaziçi) Strait divides the province in twa pairts: the European side an the Asian side.

The caipital o the province is the ceety o Istanbul, which, syne 2004, haes the same bundaries as the province.^[1]

The province an aa includes the Princes' Islands as a destrict.
