It oreeginatit frae the Internaitional Meteorological Organisation (IMO), which wis foondit in 1873. Established in 1950, WMO acame the specialised agency o the Unitit Naitions for meteorology (wather an climate), operational hydrology an relatit geopheesical sciences. It haes its heidquarters in Geneva, Swisserland, an is a member o the Unitit Naitions Development Group.[2] The current Secretar-General is Petteri Taalas.[3] The current preses is Gerhard Adrian.[4]
