The Scots Leid Awards (Inglis: Scots Language Awards) are awards gien oot bi Hands up for Trad (Scots: Hauns up fur Trad).[1] Its purpose is tae hielicht the veesibility o the Scots leid tae the public an media.[2]
The first Awards wis haudit in September 2019[3][4], featurin the folloaein ten categories:
- Scots Writer o the Year (includes poetry, prose, drama, sang writin)
- Scots Media Person o the Year (includes prent media)
- Scots Bairns’ Book o the Year
- Scots Speaker o the Year
- Young Scots Speaker o the Year
- Scots Teacher o the Year
- Scots Schuil o the Year
- Scots Project o the Year
- Scots Business o the Year
- Scots Performer o the Year
A special awaird, the Janet Paisley Lifetime Achievement Award (kent as the Janet Paisley Services to Scots Award an aw), dedicatit tae the late Fawkirk poet Janet Paisley, is gien tae fowk wha haed duin braw wirk heezin up the Scots leid.[5]
