مەھاباد

[eedit soorce]

مەھاباد is Kurdish, with that strange extra letter, not Farsi, the language you expect from an article on Iran.
I don't mind you having Kurdish there, but the Farsi spelling needs to be listed first, labelled (in Persie), and the Kurdish can follow, labelled (in Sorani Kurdish) or (in Kurdish).

But accroding to article source "The city is now mostly populated by Kurds" and Farsi spelling should follow Kurdish.--Calak (talk) 19:52, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[replie]
You can understand that I do not wish our little Wikipedia to become the World Centre of Kurdish Nationalism.
In the Kurdish language(s), it is reasonable to put the Kurdish name first. That's fine.
But in Scots and English, we are talking about an Iranian city.
Wikipedia, in our languages, is not about advocacy for a political position. We want to describe the facts.
So, in the infobox, I have Farsi first. In the article, to reflect the Kurdish nature of the city, I have Farsi second.
In English this is called the "Canadian compromise".

I didn't speak about Kurdish Nationalism. Don't politicize our conversation.
Look Varlaam, I'm not owner of this article. Everybody can edit this article even you. It's not important for me at all! As admin of ckb wikipedia, these vandalism is very common for me. Good luck.--Calak (talk) 10:02, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[replie]
