Tarandacuao is a Mexican ceety (an municipality) locatit in the lawlands o the state o Guanajuato. The municipality haes a aurie o 117.39 square kilometres, (0.31% o the surface o the state) an is bordered tae the north an east bi Jerécuaro, tae the sooth bi the state o Michoacán, an tae the wast bi Acámbaro. The municipality haed 11,583 inhabitants accordin tae the 2005 census.[1][2] Ootlyin commonties foond in Tarandacuao include La Purísima, San Juan De Dios, San Miguel Curihua, San José de Hidalgo, San Antonio, El Tocuz, San Felipe an La Virgen.
The name o the municipality is o Tarascan oreegin an means "Place whaur the watter is born," a possible reference tae the Lerma River,[3] which runs throu the region.
