Sodium nitrite is the inorganic compoond wi the chemical formula NaNO2. It is a white tae slicht yellaeish crystalline pouder that is very soluble in watter an is hygroscopic. It is a uiseful precursor tae a variety o organic compoonds, such as pharmaceuticals, dyes, an pesticides, but it is probably best kent as a fuid additive tae prevent botulism.
