Its caipital is the ceety o Terni. The province came intae being in 1927, when it wis carvit oot o the oreeginal unitary province o Umbrie.
The province o Terni haes an aurie o 2,122 km², an a total population o 219,783 (2001). There are 33 comunes (Italian: comuni in the province.[1]

The province extends intae the soothwast o the Umbrie region, occupyin the last section o the Nera River valley near the confluence wi the Velino River, an the eastren pairt o the valley o the Tiber River.
