The poinsettia (/pɔɪnˈsɛtiə/ or /pɔɪnˈsɛtə/)[1][2] (Euphorbia pulcherrima) is a culturally an commercially important plant species o the diverse spurge faimily that is indigenous tae Mexico an Central Americae. It is pairticularly weel kent for its reid an green foliage an is widely uised in Christmas floral displays. It derives its common Inglis name frae Joel Roberts Poinsett,[3] the first Unitit States Meenister tae Mexico,[4] who introduced the plant intae the Unitit States in 1825.
