Mizhhirya (Ukrainian: Міжгір'я; Yiddish: וואלאווע‎, Volovo) is an urban-teep dounset in Zakarpattia Oblast (province) in wastren Ukraine. The toun is the admeenistrative centre o the Mizhhirya Raion (destrict) an aw, hoosin the deestrict's local admeenistration biggins. The toun's population wis 9,656 as o the 2001 Ukrainian Census[2] an 9,549 in 2011.[3]

The dounset wis first mentioned in 1415 as a possession o the Hungarian feudal lairds. It wis pairt o the Kinrick o Hungary (frae the 11t century tae 1918 an frae 1938–1944) as the dounset o Ökörmező in the Máramaros Coonty an Ökörmező Destrict. Frae 1918 tae 1938, the dounset wis a pairt o Czechoslovakie as Mežhorje.[4] In 1947, its status wis upgradit tae that o a urban-teep dounset.[2]
