Brechin (/ˈbrxn/; Scots Gaelic: Breichinn) is a toun an umwhile ryal burgh in Angus, Scotland. Tradeetionally Brechin is aften describit as a ceety acause o its cathedral an its status as the seat o a pre-Reformation Roman Catholic diocese (which continues the day as an episcopal seat o the Scots Episcopal Kirk), but that status haes no been offeecially recognisit in the modren era.[4][5] Nivertheless, the designation is aften incorrectly uised, wi examples being the City of Brechin and District Community Council, City of Brechin and Area Partnership, City of Brechin Civic Trust and Brechin City Football Club.[6]
