Accordin tae the Admeenistrative territorial reform o Latvie, Latvie chyngit its admeenistrative diveesions frae twa-level municipalities (touns, ceeties, touns kintraside territories an parishes wur the first level, destricts wur the seicont level municipalities) tae ane-level municipalities - destricts were liquidated, but towns (Latvie: pilsētas, plural), towns countryside territories (Latvie: pilsētu lauku teritorijas, plural) and parishes (Latvie: pagasti, plural) were merged into 110 municipalities (Latvie: novadi, plural) and there are 9 republican cities[1] (Latvie: republikas pilsētas) with own city council and administration.[2]
