Taranto (Italian pronunciation: [ˈtaːranto] (
listen); early Italian: Tarento frae Laitin: Tarentum;[1] Auncient Greek: Τάρᾱς Tarās; Modren Greek: Τάραντας Tarantas; Tarantino "Tarde") is a coastal ceety in Apulia, Soothren Italy. It is the caipital o the Province o Taranto an is an important commercial port as well as the main Italian naval base.[2]
