A river delta is a landfurm that is furmed at the mooth o a river, whaur the river flows intae an ocean, sea, estuary, loch, or reservoir. Deltas are furmed frae the deposeetion o the sediment carried bi the river as the flow leaves the mooth o the river. Ower lang periods o time, this deposeetion bigs the characteristic geographic pattern o a river delta.
