La Esmeralda is a smaw dounset in an the caipital o Alto Orinoco Municipality in Venezuela’s Amazonas State. The name means “the emerald”. It is locatit on the shore o the Orinoco river, anerly 9 mile frae the Casiquiare canal bifurcation that links it tae the Amazon River.
The dounset conteens aboot a hunder hames, a schuil, an airfield an a militar ootpost.
