Ketton is a veelage an ceevil parish in the coonty o Rutland in the East Midlands o Ingland. It is locatit aboot aicht miles (13 km) east o Oakham an three mile (5 km) wast o Stamford in Lincolnshire. In 2001 it haed a population o 1,666, makkin it the fowert lairgest settlement in Rutland, efter Oakham, Uppingham an Cottesmore.

Ketton gave its name tae the Ketton Rural Destrict o Rutland which existit frae 1894 tae 1974. Ketton ward, which an aa includes the parishes o Barrowden, Tinwell an Tixover haes twa cooncillors on the Rutland Coonty Cooncil.

It wis oreeginally three separate veelages: Ketton, Aldgate an Geeston; but as they grew they merged tae form the veelage that Ketton is the day.

Facilities in the veelage include a post office an general store, a leebrar, twa pubs (the Railway Inn an the Northwick Arms), twa social clubs (Ketton Club an the Sports Club) an a Church o Ingland primary schuil.

A featur o Ketton is the parish Kirk o St Mary's which is ower 800 year auld.

The veelage gives its name tae Ketton Stane, a limestane which is quarriet locally an is uised in mony biggins in the veelage an elsewhaur. Some auries o umwhile quarryin are nou a Site of Special Scientific Interest, maintained bi Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust.

The limestone is uised in the production o cement. Ketton Portland Cement opened in 1928 an bi November that year the number on the payroll haed risen tae 250. The plant awned bi Hanson Cement (nou pairt o HeidelbergCement) meets mair nor 10% o the UK demand for cement.

Ketton is served bi buses on the Stamford tae Uppingham service.[1] Ketton station closed in 1966 but has been proposed for reopening.
