It wis named efter the toun o Wicklow, which derives frae the Auld Norse name Víkingalág or Wykynlo. The population o the coonty is 126,194 according to the 2006 census. Wicklow is the 17t lairgest o Ireland’s 32 coonties in area an 17t lairgest in terms o population. It is the fowert lairgest o Leinster’s 12 coonties in size an fift lairgest in terms o population.
