Brochty or Brochtie (Scots Gaelic: Bruach Tatha; Inglis: Broughty Ferry) is a suburb in Dundee, Scotland.[1] It is situatit fower mile east o the ceety centre on the north bank o the Firth o Tay. The aurie wis a separate burgh frae 1865 till 1914, whan it wis incorporatit intae Dundee.
Umwhile a prosperous fishin an whaulin veelage, in the 19th century Broughty Ferry became a haven for wealthy jute barons, that biggit thair luxury villas in the suburb. As a result, Brochty wis referred tae at the time as the "richest square mile in Europe".
