Later the toun wis annexed bi Crusades in 1099, bi Egyptian Mamluks in 1268 an bi Ottoman Turks in 1517.[2] Atween 1918 an 1938 the toun wis unner French Mandate for Sirie an Lebanon wi the rest o Iskenderun. In 1938 it wis a pairt o the independent Hatay Republic. On Juin 1939 Hatay legislative votit on disestablishin the Hatay State an joinin Turkey.
