Anna Vissi (Greek: Άννα Βίσση (pronounced [ˈana ˈvisi], Greek pronunciation: [ˈanːa ˈviʃːi]); born 20 December 1957), kent as Anna Vishy an aw, is a Cypriot recording artist and actress. Born in Pyla, Larnaca, She began singing professionally in 1973 when she moved to Greece an signed a recording contract with Minos. In 1977, she took 1st place in the 19th Thessaloniki Song Festival with the song "As Kanoume Apopse Mian Arhi" ("Let's make tonight a principle") and released her first album with the same title. Since the 80's Vissi began an exclusive collaboration with composer an lyricist Nikos Karvelas, whom she married. They have a dochter.

Through a career that has spanned four decades, Vissi has influenced several of the nation's younger generation o female artists. She has won six Arion Music Awards, 15 Pop Corn Music Awards, and nine MAD Video Music Awards. Vissi has received 32 Platinum an 11 Gold certificates from IFPI Greece an has become one of the country's best-selling artists of all time, having sold over 9.5 million records worldwide and is one of the country's top earning artists.[1][2][3] In 2010, Alpha TV ranked Vissi as the second top-certified female artist in Greece in the phonografic era (since 1960),ahead of Haris Alexiou,[4] while Forbes listed her as the 15th most powerful and influential celebrity in Greece an fourth highest ranked singer.[5]
