Vladikavkaz (Roushie: Владикавказ; IPA: [vlədʲɪkɐfˈkas], lit. ruler o the Caucasus; Ossetic: Дзæуджыхъæу, Dzæwdžyqæw, lit. Dzaug's settlement) is the caipital ceety o the Republic o North Ossetie-Alanie in soothren Roushie. It is locatit in the sootheast o the republic at the fuithills o the Caucasus Mountains, situatit the Terek River. Population: 315,068 (2002 Census);[2] 300,198 (1989 Census).[5] Vladikavkaz is ane o the maist populous ceeties in the North Caucasus.
