Zine El Abidine Ben Ali (Arabic: زين العابدين بن عليZayn al-‘Ābidīn bin ‘Alī; born 3 September 1936; deed 19 September 2019) wis the seicont preses o the Tunisian Republic. He held this office frae November 7, 1987 till bein forcit tae step doun on Januar 14, 2011.[1] He wis appointit Prime Meenister in October 1987, an assumed the Presidency in November 1987 in a bleedless coup d'état frae then Preses Habib Bourguiba who wis declared incompetent.[2] Ben Ali wis subsequently re-electit wi enormous majorities at ivery election, the last time bein October 25, 2009.[3]
