Wallonie (French pronunciation: ​[walɔni]; German: Wallonie(n); Dutch: Wallonië, [wɐˈloːnɪə] ( listen) or [ʋɑˈloːnijə]; Walloon: Waloneye) is the predominantly French-speakin soothren region o Belgium. It is govrened as the Walloon Region, which maks up 55% o the territory o Belgium but wi anerlie a third o its population. Contrary tae the situation in Flanders, the Walloon Region wis no mergit wi the French Community of Belgium, a political level responsible for matters relatit mainly tae cultur an education. The sma German-speakin minority in the east forms the German-speakin Community o Belgium, which haes its awn govrenment an parliament for cultur-relatit issues.
