Vlad III, Prince o Wallachie (1431 – 1476), mair commonly kent as Vlad the Impaler (Romanian: Vlad Ţepeș pronounced [ˈvlad ˈt͡sepeʃ] or simply as Dracula, wis a three-time Voivode o Wallachie, rulin mainly frae 1456 tae 1462.
Historically, Vlad is best kent for his resistance against the Ottoman Empire an its expansion an for the cruel punishments he imposed on his enemies.
Vlad III is believed tae hae inspired the association o his name tae that o the vampire Count Dracula in Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula.
