Seli estate (German: Sellie) traces its history back tae 1474, when it belonged to the Bridgettine convent o Pirita, near Tallinn. Later it became the property o Baltic noble faimilies. Durin its later history, stairtin frae the 20t century the biggin haes hoosed various hospital institutions. The present biggin wis oreeginally built as a baroque manor in the 18t century. The wings wur addit aroond 1830, an at the end o the 19th century, balconies and changes to the façade were added. Durin the revolution o 1905, rioters burnt the hoose doun and subsequently it receivit new, eclecticist interiors. Durin the Soviet occupation o Estonie, the decoratit interiors wur ance again destroyed. Apairt frae the main biggin, several notewirthy ootbiggins remain.
