The plains zebra (Equus quagga, umwhile Equus burchelli), an aa kent as the common zebra or Burchell's zebra, is the maist common an geografically widespread species o zebra.[2] It ranges frae the sooth o Ethiopie through East Africae tae as far sooth as Botswana an eastren Sooth Africae. The plains zebra remains common in game reserves, but is threatened bi human activities such as huntin for its meat an hide, as well as competeetion wi livestock an encroachment bi fairmin on much o its habitat.
