Munkfors Municipality (Munkfors kommun) is a municipality in Värmland Coonty in wast central Swaden. Its seat is locatit in the toun o Munkfors.
In 1952 the rural municipality Ransäter got the title o a mercat toun (köping) an the name Munkfors efter its anerlie built-up locality. Wi the local govrenment reform o 1971 it became a municipality o unitary type athoot addition o territory. The municipality is the day the 9t smawest bi population in Swaden.
In Ransäter lees the Geijer Schuil, in honour o author Erik Gustaf Geijer (1783-1843), who wis born at the Ransäter ferm. A seicont notable Ransäter native wis Tage Erlander (1901-1985), who wis Prime Meenister o Sweden 1946-1969.
