[1] The toun o El Limón is the shire toun o the Mario Briceño Iragorry Municipality.[2] The municipality is namit for the writer Mario Briceño Iragorry.

The Mario Briceño Iragorry Municipality, accordin tae a 2007 population estimate bi the Naitional Institute o Statistics o Venezuela, haes a population o 103,269 (up frae 98,429 in 2000). This amunts tae 6.2% of the state's population.[3] The municipality's population density is 1,948.47 inhabitants per square kilometre (5,046.5/sq mi).[4]

The mayor o the Mario Briceño Iragorry Municipality is Carlos Javier Velarde, electit on 31 October 2004 wi 52% o the vote.[5] He replacit Pedro Maurera shortly efter the elections.[6] The municipality is dividit intae twa pairishes; Capital Mario Briceño Iragorry an Caña de Azúcar (creatit 30 Januar 1995).[2]
