Beginnin his racin career in tourin caur racin, Hunt progressed intae Formula Three where he attractit the attention o the Hesketh Racing team an wis suin taken unner their wing. Hunt entered Formula One in 1973, drivin a March 731 entered bi the Hesketh Racing team. He went on tae win for Hesketh, drivin their own Hesketh 308 caur, in baith Warld Championship an non-Championship races, afore joinin the McLaren team at the end o 1975. In his first year wi McLaren, Hunt wan the Warld Drivers' Championship, an he remained wi the team for a further twa years, although wi less success, afore muivin tae the Wolf team in early 1979. Housomeivver, follaein a string o races in which he failed tae finish, Hunt retired frae drivin hauf wey through the 1979 saison.
He is latterly remembered for his commentary career for the BBC, which he teuk up follaein his retirement an maintained till his daith in 1993.
