It shares borders wi the Hungarian coonties Csongrád, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok an Hajdú-Bihar. The caipital o Békés coonty is Békéscsaba. The coonty is an aa pairt o the Danube-Kris-Mures-Tisa euroregion.
