It is pairt o the Augusta-Richmond County Metropolitan Statistical Area. Aiken is hame tae the University of South Carolina at Aiken. The population wis 29,494 at the 2010 census. Aiken wis recognisit wi the All-America City Award in 1997 bi the National Civic League.
