Valkeakoski (lit. white rapids) is a toun an municipality in Finland.
Valkeakoski is locatit 35 kilometres (22 mi) sooth o Tampere an 150 km (93 mi) north o Helsinki in the Pirkanmaa region. The municipality haes a population o 20,833 (31 Januar 2011)[1] an covers an aurie o 372.04 square kilometres (143.65 sq mi) o which 100.06 km2 (38.63 sq mi) is water.[2] The population density is 76.6 inhabitants per square kilometre (198 /sq mi).
The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
Valkeakoski is best kent for its paper industry an domestically heichlie successful fitbaa team, FC Haka.

In the follaein middle ages, the mill toun Sääksmäki wis the center o the aurie. Housomeivver, industrialization towards the end o the 19t century increased the importance o wha became the contemporary toun o Valkeakoski. The channel o Valkeakoski wis opened in 1869, an the first paper mill wis completit in 1873, markin the beginnin o a continuin tradition o forest industry. The municipality o Sääksmäki, frae which the toun o Valkeakoski wis detached in 1923 wis consolidatit with Valkeakoski in 1973. [3]
