Izhevsk (Roushie: Иже́вск; Template:IPA-ru; Template:Lang-udm, Iž, Ižkar) is the caipital ceety o the Udmurt Republic, Roushie, situatit on the Izh River in the Wastren Urals. Population: 632,140 (2002 Census);[3] 635,109 (1989 Census).[5]
Frae 1984 tae 1987 Izhevsk carriet the name Ustinov (Усти́нов, in honor o Meenister o Defense o the USSR, Marshal o the Soviet Union, Dmitry Ustinov). The ceety is an important industrial center, an is the economic, industrial an admeenistrative hub o the republic. Izhevsk is especially notit for its military industry, wi Roushie's biggest munitions enterprise, Izhmash, manufacturer o the AK-47, based in the ceety.
