Stanislav Yevgrafovich Petrov (Roushie: Станисла́в Евгра́фович Петро́в; born 7 September 1939 in Vladivostok[1]; died 19 Mey 2017) wis a retired lieutenant colonel o the Soviet Air Defence Forces.

Investigation later confirmed that the satellite waurnin seestem haed indeed malfunctioned.[3]
