Shimen Destrict (Cheenese: 石門區; pinyin: Shímén Qū) is a spairsely populatit landwart destrict in the northren pairt o New Taipei in northren Republic o Cheenae (Taiwan). It is pairt o the north coast scenic aurie an includes Taiwan's northmaist point, Cape Fugui.

While kent tae earlier splorers, includin the Dutch, the aurie wis first explicitly mentioned in Cheenese annals in 1694 as Shimenshan (石門山; Stane Gate Muntain).[1] Durin the period o Imperial Japanese rule, Shimen wis cried Sekimon Veelage (石門庄), an wis govrened bi the Tamsui destrict (淡水郡) o the Taihoku Prefectur. In 1945 when the Kuomintang teuk ower admeenistration o Taiwan the aurie became Shimen Landwart Tounship, a pairt o Taipei Coonty. Wi the reorganisation o Taipei Coonty in 2010, Shimen became a destrict o the newly creatit New Taipei.

The interior o Shimen is predominantly muntainous, wi smaw auries of flat land on the coast.[2] The destrict is bordered tae the north bi the East Cheenae Sea, tae the soothwast bi Sanzhi Destrict, an tae the sootheast bi Jinshan Destrict.

Shimen is pairt o New Taipei, a special municipality unner the Republic o Cheenae govrenment. The destrict itsel is dividit intae nine veelages: Shanxi (山溪里), Shimen (石門里), Laomei (老梅里), Jianlu (尖鹿里), Maolin (茂林里), Caoli (草里里), Qianhua (乾華里), Fuji (富基里), and Demao (德茂里).[1]
